To determine the ideal number of sheets required, simply divide the width of your roof by the cover width of 1016mm. This calculation ensures a precise fit and optimal coverage for your project. Calculating the necessary fixings is straightforward. Divide the width of your roof by the fixing centres, then divide the length of the roof by the support centres. Add 1 to this result and multiply the two values together. This outcome will give you a close approximation of the fixings needed to ensure a sturdy and reliable installation.
When it comes to fixing the sheets, starting at the lower end of the structure, opposite the prevailing wind, is recommended. For seamless joins between sheets, make sure to maintain a minimum overlap of 150mm. In cases where the roof pitch is less than 10°, increasing the overlap to 300mm is advised. To protect against dust and dirt infiltration, it is crucial to apply a strip of the high-performance Ariel Butyl Sealing Tape between the laps of the sheets, focusing on the edges and ends.
Additionally, if you're working on a lean-to structure, the Ariel Wall Flashing serves as an excellent closure flashing, ensuring a tight seal between the profiled roof sheet and the adjacent wall. To enhance stability and prevent any potential noise or movement, using Ariel Foam Fillers at all support positions beneath the sheets is highly recommended. These fillers eliminate roof "chatter" and provide invaluable support once the sheets are fixed in place. The Ariel screws, caps and washers help to secure each sheet effectively. You'll know the screw is appropriately tightened when the washer beneath its head can be rotated with ease using just your finger and thumb.
