Find out moreAble to reduce unwanted noise by as much as 30 decibels, the ingenious Decibel Noise Reduction Fence Panel from Forest Garden will help create a more peaceful and tranquil environment to enjoy your outside spaces. As well as providing effective noise reduction performance, this pressure treated fence panel, which can be mounted either vertically or horizontally, also brings a touch of style to your garden with a high-quality natural timber colour and smooth-planed finish.
The Decibel Noise Reduction Fence Panel's 17mm thick section boards are made from FSC® certified pressure-treated wood. They are interlocked with extended tongue and grooves to block external noise from penetrating the panels. They are then mounted in a rebated frame to provide strength and help prevent gaps from developing across the face of the board. Thanks to the panel's Triform technology, each board has a triangular profile on each side of the panel, helping to further disperse unwanted noise as sound waves. To ensure your fence panel lasts for many years, each fence panel comes with a 15-year anti-rot guarantee as standard.
During tests to determine its acoustic performance, the Decibel Noise Reduction Fence Panel demonstrated an ability to reduce noise levels by as much as 30dB (decibels). This level of sound reduction is comparable to reducing the noise produced by a petrol lawnmower all the way down to the level of a normal conversation. A 30dB reduction in noise level is equivalent to an 8-fold decrease in the perceived intensity of the noise.
If you're after even greater noise reduction performance, the Decibel Noise Reduction Fence Panel must be mounted to fence posts, ensuring no gaps for noise to pass through. You can achieve this via either a slotted fence post (for timber or concrete) or by screwing the panel directly into the post. The use of a fence 'U-bracket' is not recommended as it will leave a gap, which will reduce performance. Mounting your panels to a gravel board can also enhance the panel's acoustic capability by taking the height of your fence to over 2 metres.
