Find out moreIdeal for use against subterranean concrete, waterproofed structures, basements and foundation walls, these Protecto-Drain 8 Buttons can be fitted with a dimpled HPDE membrane, also known as a FIN DRAIN OR CAVITY DRAIN. Designed to protect your structure against mechanical damage, these buttons can help create an air gap between the earth and waterproofing.
Producing a reliable drainage channel for groundwater to pass down the surface of your structure and into a suitable channel or sump, the membrane ensures that hydrostatic pressure does not build up within the structural layers and avoids the potential for punctures and damp development. When installed with the membrane, these Protecto-Drain Buttons are suitable for a variety of applications including basement waterproofing, road construction, sports field drainage, erosion control, gas dispersion and collection, abutment drainage, walls built half exposed/half buried and retaining walls.
Lightweight, quick and easy to install and fix, these Protecto-Drain buttons are incredibly cost-effective. Simply position the dimpled sheet against your structure or foundation wall and overlap each sheet by at least 20cm. The cups should face the structure on their underside so that the open cup is facing the backfill/earth/ground. For bonding each sheet together, fit double-sided PROTECTO-TAPE along the complete length of one sheet and remove the slip foil. Lay one sheet on top of the other by pressing the open cups into those on the other sheet. The cups will fit neatly within the angled sides, into the button/cup.
PROTECTO-TAPE has been created to hold the sheets temporarily in place prior to the backfill process. Sheets can also be fixed using buttons and clout nails, secured with a bolt gun or clamped down with a batten at the top of the membrane. You can fill the void behind the membrane with a free-draining aggregate such as loose stones or gravel. The dimpled membrane must always be fitted so that the top of it protrudes above the backfill level.
